Bring Hip-Hop BACK!!!

Distant memories fill my mind when I hear someone speak about The Golden Age of Hip-hop. It is now something that has long been forgotten, and replaced with "the rap crap" the mainstream airwaves continue to play. I remember the days when Hip-Hop was real and raw, back when "Rap Artist" were known as MC's, when lyrics spoke of more than sex, drugs and alcohol. This was the music that I had to sneak and listed to in my Mothers house, she was saved to the bone and didn't want any secular music in her house. My only escape was being with my Father who loved Hip-hop. I remember riding with my Dad blasting"Follow The Leader" by Eric B and Rakim and then flipping over the tape and playing "Brand New Funk" by Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince. Those memories will always be fresh in my mind. I remember when Queen Latifah spoke of "U.N.I.T.Y" and said you didn't have to be a Bitch or a Hoe, but now thanks to Nicki Minaj calling someone a Bitch is a term of endearment. How did Hip-hop stoop this low? Or was Nas right when he said Hip-hop was dead? Thinking back on those times, I never thought our form of expression that empowered and strengthened us would be so commercialized. Once so forbidden and bold it is now heard on TV commercials with dancing hamsters. Years ago Chuck D screamed "Fight the Power" and people held their fist in the air proclaiming their fight and taking their stand against mainstream America. Now today we have some big-headed tattooed fool singing with auto tune. What happened to good music? What happened to MC's that could crush the competition? Have we sold our souls to mainstream Rap Music that is laced with filth and perversion? If I could have it my way I would tell Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Soulja Boy, Rick Ross, T. Pain, Jay Z, and every other person in mainstream rap to have a "HOE SIT DOWN" year. So they can bring back my Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff, N.W.A., MC Lyte, Eric B & Rakim, Cypress Hill, Special Ed, Dougie Fresh, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, and all the others MC's from that era. So they can blast the air waves with real Hip-hop and not this junk they have been playing for soo long. I want my old Hip-hop back.

10 Things I Hate about the Black Church

Being raised in a Black Pentecostal Church for my entire life I have seen a lot of things that are outright hilarious, things that will make the most serious person double over with laughter. Then there are somethings within the Church that will make you upset, and angry enough to think about leaving the Black Church. We have got to do better...
10 Things that I HATE!!!

10) Offering Time- How I have begun to loath this! It sounds like an auction! "Do I see $100 there? Yes $100 there! Do I see a $50!? $50!?". If everyone would give honestly and pay their tithes we wouldn't have this problem, and good churches wouldn't struggle!
9) The Person Who Does Announcements But Can't Read- "Who put them up?" Is the question the entire church ask when Brother (or Sister) Can't read is up fumbling over the announcements. Church Why? Is this supposed to help them learn how to read? How about this, instead of embarrassing them let's start a reading program in the church and help them and others who can't read.
8) The "Feminine" Male choir Director- I have heard every excuse for this man. "He was raised by his mother". "He just likes to wear loud colors". "You don't know his story". I have three words on this and I am leaving it alone "SIT HIM DOWN!!!!"
7) The Church Celebrities- So what you can sing or play an instrument, outside of this church no one knows you. Get a grip on reality!
6) The Mean Usher- No one cares that your feet hurt. You should have never joined the usher board if you have bad feet! And stop tryna take my candy out my mouth!
5) The Praise Dancers That Have Never Had REAL Dance Lessons- Just please for the sake of the ENTIRE congregation take a dance lesson from a REAL dance instructor.
4) The Choir That Uses Too Much Vibrato- By the second verse I am tired of hearing you, because I can't understand you.
3) The Way We Treat Each Other-We say we love each other, but when we go home we forget about each other. We say we are a family, but I don't know any good family member that would watch another family member struggle. We really need to get this together myself included.
2)The Way We Treat Our Wounded-Your struggle is none of my business. I am called to love you and not kill you with my words.
1)The Way We Treat Our Pastors- They should never have to look for us, call us, continue to lay hands on us if we have been saved and in the church longer than 5 years. You are no longer a baby, Man (or Woman) Up and walk and start being a help and not a leech.

Again, this from my point of view and I am just telling it like it TIS!

Sundays Best & Family Business

So tonight I watched Sunday Best and Family Business (talk about multi-tasking, whew). Before I begin with my thoughts on this episode of Sunday's Best, I must say that I have a biased opinion about this show. I really believe that they accept people based on ratings and not whether they have true talent or anointing. From what I know, there where singers that I know who can out right BLOW that didn't get through the auditions in Philly or Detriot. Anyways my vote for this years competition goes to LeAndria Johnson, I really really like her. She has a great personality, the tone of her voice is simply amazing, and she makes every song she sings her own. I think that if she doesn't win that I will be right about this show being rigged for ratings. As far as Elder Goldwire McLendon, I think he belongs on the men's choir at my church. Honestly the man wouldn't even receive a solo on the choir. He has made it this far because of his age regardless of what the judges lie and tell him. All in all I am very disappointed in how Sunday's Best unfolded this year, I think the top 20 singers that they selected could have been better #Just saying...
Now on to Ray J and Brandy, first let us start off with a question. Has anyone every seen Brandy's daughter? Anyone? No one? I mean I can understand not wanting your child to deal with all the extra publicity but good Lord at least let us know that you are someones Mother LOLZ! Now as far as Ray J is concerned I just have a hard time believing that he was some kind of thug, I mean he looks as soft as a yellow daisy. What is he actually contributing to the show besides being a pain in my behind? #Just saying

First Time

Okay so my blogging cherry has officially been busted. (sorry for using such a grotesque metaphor I had nothing else) I must say that this may be very cleansing for me to write whatever the heck is on my mind, this is gonna be interesting.
